Turbo blower with active magnetic bearings installed

UAB “Kauno vandenys”

In 2025, UAB “Ekobana”, having won a public procurement tender by UAB “Kauno vandenys”, installed a Sulzer HST 30-46-1-250-40 turbo blower with active magnetic bearings at the Kaunas Wastewater Treatment Plant. The blower has a capacity of 4,000–11,800 Nm³/h and a motor power of 250 kW.

As part of the blower replacement, the air intake system was also modified: process air is now drawn from outside, and a pocket filter housing was installed. The discharge piping was upgraded, and a silencer and shut-off valve were installed.

This is not the first blower modernisation project implemented by UAB “Ekobana” at the Kaunas Wastewater Treatment Plant. In 2017, following another successful public procurement tender, the company installed the first Sulzer HST 20-190 turbo blower with active magnetic bearings in Lithuania, with a capacity of 3,000–7,200 Nm³/h and a motor power of 190 kW. In 2023, after winning another public procurement tender, a Sulzer HST 30-46-1-250-40 blower was installed at the plant.

During operation, Sulzer HST blowers have demonstrated low energy consumption and straightforward maintenance.
